MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia College males’s and girls’s swimming and diving assistant coach Sydney Pickrem earned a bronze medal for Staff Canada on the 2024 Quick Course World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday.
Pickrem was a part of the 100-meter freestyle relay group within the prelims to start the championships. Staff Canada certified for the ultimate with a closing time of three:34.50.
Pickrem didn’t swim within the closing as Staff Canada earned bronze after the relay group touched the wall at 3:28.44.
The USA relay group set a world document with a closing time of three:25.01 to win gold.
Pickrem is again in motion on Wednesday to compete within the 100-meter breaststroke. Prelims will happen at 3 a.m. EST every day and finals will start at 11:30 a.m. The championships will air on NBC/Peacock.
