MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia College senior guard Javon Small has been named the Large 12 Convention Participant of the Week, the NCAA March Insanity Participant of the Week and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Participant of the Week for the week of Jan. 6.
Small, a local of South Bend, Indiana, averaged a double-double for the week with wins at No. 7 Kansas and at dwelling vs. Oklahoma State. He averaged 18.5 factors, 11.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per recreation.
Small had 13 factors, 11 rebounds at Kansas, together with the game-winning free throw with 1.8 seconds left. He scored 24 factors to go along with 11 rebounds towards Oklahoma State. Small continues to steer the Large 12 Convention in scoring at 19.5 factors per recreation.
It is the second Large 12 weekly award for Small this season. He was named co-Participant of the Week on Dec. 3. Additionally on Dec. 3, Small was named the Oscar Robertson Nationwide Participant of the Week by the USBWA.
The Mountaineers broke into the AP High 25 this week at No. 21. It is the primary time WVU has appeared within the weekly ballot since a No. 24 rating on Dec. 26, 2022.
