MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Jan 18, 2025) The No. 3-ranked West Virginia College rifle crew collected its ninth straight win of the season and its first in 2025 with a 4754-4720 end result over No. 7 Navy on Saturday contained in the WVU Shell Constructing on the WVU Rifle Vary.
 
It marks the sixth-ranked opponent the Mountaineers have defeated this season. The Mountaineers are 33-8 all-time towards Navy in a collection that dates again to 1966. The win extends the Mountaineers’ common season win streak to 22 straight matches.
 
West Virginia claimed each smallbore and air rifle with marks of 2363 and 2391, respectively. Navy fired marks of 2346 in smallbore and 2374 in air rifle. All three of West Virginia’s marks within the match have been new season highs.  
 
For smallbore and air rifle, seniors Gavin Barnick and Natalie Perrin, sophomores Lauri Syrja and Griffin Lake and freshman Ashlyn Blake served as counters for the match.  
 
Barnick completed first on the general leaderboard as his marks in smallbore and air rifle additionally topped the rostrum. He scored an combination rating of 1191 with a 593 in smallbore and a 598 in air rifle. His rating in smallbore tied a career-high whereas his combination rating and air rifle mark have been a season excessive.
 
Lake completed in second with an 1189 complete. His 592 in smallbore matched a season-best as he added a 197 in air rifle. Syrja completed in third with 1187 as he hit a season-high 598 in air rifle and added a 589 in smallbore.
 
Blake completed in fifth place with 1185 after marks of 589 in smallbore and 596 in air rifle. Perrin completed simply behind with 1183 after posting the best air rifle mark of 598 with Barnick and Syrja. She added a mark of 585 in smallbore.
 
Freshman Jacob Wisman posted an 1177 (583 SB – 594 AR), freshman Camryn Camp scored an 1176 (582 SB – 594 AR) and sophomore Maximus Duncan rounded out the scores with an 1158 (569 SB – 589 AR).

The Mountaineers are again on the road subsequent weekend after they compete in two street matches on Saturday and Sunday in Ohio. WVU opens the weekend on Saturday towards Ohio State earlier than heading down the street to sq. off with Akron on Sunday.
